Tours

We can undertake, by arrangement, group tours of the house. These have proven to be extremely popular. Generally, curated by the Historic Houses Association under the aegis of “Invitation to View“, we can accommodate up to 40 visitors. If required, we can supply a light lunch. Alternatively, at the end of the tour, we can offer home-made tea and cakes.

The house is incredibly interesting. It has undergone five separate periods of construction. Highlights include 16th and 17th century oak panelling; a Tudor Great Parlour; a Tudor Great Chamber; a garret in which John Bunyan was briefly imprisoned in 1660; a 17th century bridal suite, barely altered since that time; a 1937 extension by the eminent architect Sir Albert Richardson and a huge cornucopia of quirky and eclectic objects, art, antiques and finds. We have artworks by James Northcote RA, Jonathan Richardson, Wolfe von Lenkiewicz, John Afflick, Sir Edwin Landseer and Emma Vidal.

“We enjoyed the tour immensely. The owner is very knowledgeable, a natural public speaker and clearly enjoys showing his historic home to visitors”-Probus Club of Ealing.

“What a fantastic manor! Thank you so much for yesterday - everyone thoroughly enjoyed it!” Oxford Architectural and Antiques Society”
